Four Old Grey boys in the Springbok Team for the once-off test against a very strong World XV team in 1977, captained by the renowned Willie-John McBride to celebrate the opening of the New Loftus Versfeld Stadium, the Grey boys in team was Dawie Snyman, Robbie Blair, Morne Du Plessis and Theuns Stofberg. Morne was Captain and Dawie Vice-Captain.
Also very rare that both captains of the same school for Springbok team, it was the first and only time this ever happened.
When Loftus was rebuilt in 1977 it was regarded as the most modern rugby stadium in the world, it has evolved a lot since then, only the main stand still remains.
